About icipe
Established in 1970 and headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, icipe is the only research organisation in Africa working primarily on insects and other arthropods, and the sole institution that combines research and development activities across plant health, human health, animal health, and environmental health. The Centre has about 500 international and national staff, operations in more than 40 countries in Africa, and over 300 partnerships with diverse organisations across the world.

1. Human Resources Assistant — 2 Positions

Under the guidance of the supervisor, the Human Resources Assistant will support in the delivery and efficient operations of the Human Resource Unit by performing administrative duties including recruitment support, onboarding and exit management, contract and employee records management, immigration and protocol support, and general HR administration.
Requirements: Diploma in Human Resources Management or equivalent; at least one year’s experience in an HR setup; proficiency in Microsoft Office; organized, accurate, and detail-oriented.

2. Research Officer

3. Software and Cloud Solutions Architect

The Software and Cloud Solutions Architect will develop scalable and cost-effective architectural solutions for cloud-managed services to Digital Earth Africa Program, and will also be responsible for engineering efficient software and building elastic and interoperable solutions.
Key duties include designing and maintaining database systems, developing web applications in JavaScript and Python, automating CI/CD pipelines on AWS, and managing production-grade Kubernetes clusters.
Requirements: BSc/BA in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; at least 2 years of relevant work experience; good understanding of cloud-managed services (preferably AWS), IT security, and data infrastructure.

4. Geospatial Data Officer

The Geospatial Data Officer will provide GIS and earth observation support across icipe’s research programmes. Duties include producing high-quality GIS map products, processing satellite data, developing ecological niche models, and maintaining geospatial data infrastructure using tools such as QGIS, ArcMap, Google Earth Engine, and R software.
Requirements: Degree in Geospatial Science, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field; experience in GIS and remote sensing tools.

5. Project Assistant

6. Research Scientist — Ecological Modelling
