We are seeking a talented and driven Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer with a passion for developing models in the Climate space. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machine learning, data science, and meteorology, with the ability to develop and deploy advanced predictive models to enhance prediction capabilities. You will work closely with a team of scientists, engineers, and data analysts to integrate data into robust, high-performance forecasting systems. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

The main responsibilities will be:

  • Design and implement machine learning models
  • Analyze large datasets from various sources, including satellite, radar, and IoT sensors, to identify trends and patterns.
  • Extract and refine relevant features from raw data to improve the performance of our prediction models.
  • Deploy models into production environments and ensure their performance and scalability.
  • Work closely with Engineers, scientists and data analysts to understand the domain-specific requirements and improve the forecasting models.
  • Test and validate models using various statistical methods to ensure their reliability and accuracy.
  • Monitor model performance and update them as needed based on new data and technological advancements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field.
  • Proficiency in machine learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or a similar language.
  • Experience with big data tools and platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, or similar.
  • Knowledge of data preprocessing and feature engineering techniques.
  • Domain Knowledge: Understanding of climate data principles and familiarity with., satellite imagery, radar data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Experience in developing, validating, and deploying machine learning models, particularly for time series data.
  • Familiarity with GIS Development Software and Maps such as GIS software, ArcGIS, OpemMaps, Leaflets or similar.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and present findings.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
