The Nairobi Rivers Commission (NRC) is offering 20 internship positions under the River Regeneration Project for FY 2025/2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for energetic, self-motivated Kenyan graduates to gain hands-on field experience while contributing to the restoration and beautification of the Nairobi River Basin
About the Nairobi Rivers Commission
The NRC was established via Kenya Gazette Notice No. 13907 to coordinate the restoration and beautification of the Nairobi River Basin. Through the River Regeneration Project, the Commission is actively working to restore Nairobi’s rivers and improve environmental conditions across the city.
Internship Details
- Position: Clerk of Works Intern
- Number of Positions: 20
- Duty Station: NRC / River Regeneration Project Sites, Nairobi
- Duration: 5 months (ending 30th June 2026)
- Stipend: As per prevailing Government/PSC guidelines
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in daily site supervision and monitoring of river regeneration activities
- Document environmental and safety compliance at project sites
- Track project progress and participate in site inspections
Requirements for Appointment
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Have graduated in the year 2019 or later
- Hold a Degree or Diploma in any of the following fields from a recognized institution: Civil Engineering, Building Construction or Construction Management, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Studies, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Accounts and Finance, or a related field
- Be proficient in computer applications
- Possess strong communication and teamwork skills and be able to work under field conditions
- Candidates living within the Nairobi River Corridors will have an added advantage
