Job Description
Monitoring and evalution officer, NRC Kenya country office, based in Nairobi: This role will support monitoring and evaluation of ongoing programs being implemented by NRC Kenya and partners. The M&E officer will organise and deliver delegated M&E activities and is required to have technical knowledge on M&E. Detailed responsibilities below outline the expectations from the M&E officer. The M&E officer will report to the M&E Manager, and will be required to travel to implementation sites in Dadaab and Kakuma.
Responsibilities
- Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
- Support and contribute to the development and implementation of partner M&E systems, including M&E SOPs, guidance and tools.
- Participate in programme design and proposal discussions, including theory of change development, log frame design and budgeting for M&E.
- Support partner staff in planning for and executing M&E, including, data collection methodology and tools and data management, analysis and use.
- Support the implementation, dissemination and use of evaluations, assessments and monitoring data in programme development, adjustment or review.
- Contribute to Partner and NRC organisational learning through supporting specific analysis, lessons learned and reports.
- Capacity building and training of partner and M&E support staff on M&E technical and conceptual areas.
- Mentor partner M&E support staff in executing M&E plans.
Qualifications
Generic professional competencies for this position:
- Bachelors’ Degree in information management, mathematics, statistics or other related fields.
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
- Proficiency in English is essential
Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- Minimum 2 years of previous job experience relevant to the function or in digital communication and data management, statistics, analysis and information technology.
- Advanced MS Excel skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suite are required. Previous experience of working with SPSS, STATA and R is desirable.
- A cursory knowledge of telephony and mobile communications infrastructure and management and can articulate needs and requirements for telephony relevant to digital communication environments
- Ability to develop, organize and design short informational documents and training materials relevant to the tools in use
- Good understanding of data and information needs for programme management and decision making.
- Strong data interpretation skills, report writing, and data presentation
