Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.

- Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Microbiology / Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology/ Genomics or any related biological science course from a recognized institution.
- Be Familiar with conducting literature review.
- Conversant with basic microbial culture techniques and epidemiology

Masters Studentship – Kisumu & Kericho
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting fieldwork for data collection, including surveys and sample collection.
- Conducting laboratory experiments to optimize ONT protocols for pathogen de-tection.
- Utilizing ONT sequencing and bioinformatics tools to analyze genomic data and identify disease pathogens and antimicrobial resistance genes.
- Collaborating closely with healthcare professionals, government officials, and community stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of research find-ings.
- Participating in training sessions and workshops aimed at building research transla-tion skills and promoting evidence-based policymaking.
