The Role of the Community Health Officer

As a Community Health Officer in Mwingi, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of the CHAMPS program. You will work under the leadership of the CHAMPS Project Manager to oversee the delivery of essential maternal and newborn child health (MNCH) services in both the community and healthcare facilities.

Your Responsibilities

  • Program Quality and Capacity Building: You’ll be responsible for supporting the implementation of maternal and child health activities, facilitating training and mentorship for healthcare providers, and ensuring quality assurance measures are in place.
  • Project Management: You’ll participate in planning project activities, track progress, and maintain up-to-date project documentation.
  • Budget and Financial Management: Working with the finance team, you’ll help ensure program activities comply with financial guidelines and participate in budget development and tracking.
  • Monitoring, Accountability, Evaluation and Learning: You’ll play a key role in monitoring program progress, collecting data, and preparing reports.
  • Partnerships: You’ll collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure program success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communication, or Health
  • At least 4 years of experience in community health program implementation
  • Excellent coordination, networking, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Experience working with an NGO and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Data analysis software skills preferred
  • Knowledge of the local county context a strong plus
  • Comfortable working for a faith-based organization
  • Belief in CMMB’s mission
