Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our organization. As a Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the financial activities of our organization and our implementing partner. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, preparing financial statements, implementing internal controls, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. You will report directly to the Country Director.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other reports as required.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Analyze financial data, identify trends, and present findings to senior management.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Provide financial analysis and guidance to support strategic decision-making.
- Conduct variance analysis to assess performance against budgets and forecasts.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Conduct regular internal audits and reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with external auditors and ensure successful completion of annual audits.
Cash Flow Management:
- Monitor cash flow activities, including cash inflows and outflows, and ensure sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs.
- Implement effective cash management strategies to optimize working capital and minimize financial risks.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and recommend appropriate funding strategies.
Financial Systems and Processes:
- Oversee the financial systems and processes, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Continuously improve financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity.
- Implement and maintain financial controls to mitigate risks and prevent fraudulent activities.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, promoting professional growth and development within the team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CIFA) is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Proficiency in financial analysis tools and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of internal controls and risk management.
- Experience in the Not-for-Profit organization is a plus.
