Impact Research and Development Organization (IRDO) [www.impact-rdo.org] is a registered Kenyan NGO with a main office in Kisumu and regional offices in several counties of Kenya. IRDO’s principal mandate is to design, implement and evaluate public health research and intervention programs that improve the health status of individuals and local communities. We are looking for qualified and experienced personnel to immediately fill the following positions:
- Field Research Assistant – 2 positions (Vacancy #: IRDO/FRA/01/2023)
Job Summary: The job holder will primarily conduct qualitative data collection and transcription.
Contract type: 3 months (renewable)
Reporting to: Study
Coordinator
Location: Kisumu
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Screen and administer informed consent to study participants in the study.
Conduct qualitative data collection in accordance with established research methodologies.
Offer HTS services to selected participants.
Transcribe qualitative data accurately and efficiently.
Organize and manage data collected to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Attend training workshop for the Field Research Assistants.
Maintain clear and organized documentation of all research activities.
Participate in de–brief meetings after data collection.
Protect all project equipment and ensure that they are all safe and accounted for.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Study Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications:
University degree in Social Science, Public Health, Anthropology or any relevant degree; Diploma with relevant research experience may be considered.
A least 2 years proven experience in conducting qualitative data collection for research projects.
Experience in carrying out In–depth Interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). Proficiency in transcription techniques.
Good written and oral communication in English, Dholuo and Kiswahili.
Excellent interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Have previous HTS experience and working with key populations.
- Must be a local from the survey areas i.e Kisumu.
