Roles and responsibilities
Achieving Zamara’s ambitious strategic priorities will be complex and challenging. Its continued success will be dependent on building and retaining a world-class team. As part of the expansion of the Group in Kenya and other countries, we are looking to recruit a Risk and Compliance Assistant on contract terms.
The role will report to the Head of Governance, Risk and Compliance.
The areas of responsibility will include:
- To log all complaints, maintain and update the Complaints Ledger and ensure all complaints are resolved in line with the Group Complaints Policy.
- To assist with the preparation, continuous review and amendments of Group policies
- To provide reports on a monthly and quarterly basis, and as directed or requested.
- To prepare relevant information required by external bodies and regulators on compliance matters such as reporting suspicious transactions related to money laundering and the fight against terrorism financing as well as ensure and compliance for all regulated activities.
- To ensure development and implementation of an effective risk training program.
- To keep abreast with the applicable laws, regulations, rules, and standards in the risk & compliance fraternity and advise on the emerging developments of the same
- Team participation both within the department and other departments.
Experience and personal qualities
- Preferably with 2 years’ work experience
- LLB degree or related degree – Advocate of the High Court will be an added advantage (the role is not suitable to candidates currently in KSL or intending to commence).
- Experience in the financial sector, pensions and/or insurance industry would be an added advantage
- Good inter-personal skills
- Good writing skills
- Good communication skills
- Good time management skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office – especially Excel and Word
