Job Summary:
The IT Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support and
ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel’s IT systems, including hardware, software,
network infrastructure, and security. This position is key in supporting hotel operations,
including front office, reservations, housekeeping, and guest services, by ensuring that all technology functions efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert technical support to hotel staff and guests for IT-related issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, including Point of Sale
- (POS) systems, Property Management System (PMS), and reservation systems.
- Maintain and perform regular updates on hotel computers, servers, and network equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Oversee the seamless operation of guest Wi-Fi and internet services, addressing any issues promptly.
- Monitor and maintain the hotel’s network infrastructure, including Local Area Network (LAN), Wi-Fi, and Virtual Private Network (VPN).
- Assist in configuring and managing access control systems for both employees and guests.
- Ensure data security by implementing robust backup and recovery processes.
- Install, configure, and update software applications used in various hotel departments and operations.
- Maintain an inventory of IT assets and coordinate timely repairs or replacements as needed.
- Monitor systems for potential security breaches and unauthorized access, addressing any issues proactively.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with the IT Manager and other hotel departments to enhance technology use and improve operational efficiency.
- Provide basic IT training to hotel staff to ensure optimal use of systems and applications.
- Assist in IT-related projects, system upgrades, and technology implementation as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in IT support, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with hotel management software (e.g., Opera, Micros, Fidelio) is highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic knowledge of networking, Windows operating systems, and cyber security principles.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work well under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
