The Clerk of Works is responsible for overseeing the construction and installation of the mechanical works for an incinerator project. This includes monitoring and inspecting the quality of the work performed by the contractor to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and relevant standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fuel Tank Fabrication Works:
- Monitor the fabrication of fuel tanks to ensure they are constructed according to the approved designs and specifications. Ensure that all necessary quality control checks and testing are carried out.
- Inspect the welding, surface preparation, and painting of the fuel tanks.
- Welded Piping Works:
- Oversee the installation of the welded piping system, including the joints, fittings, and supports.
- Inspect the welding process and verify the proper installation and testing of the piping system.
- Works Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections of the welding work on the tanks, incinerators, and piping.
- Ensure that welders are qualified and that the welding procedures are being followed correctly.
- Perform or oversee non-destructive testing (NDT) of the welded joints as required.
- Painting Works:
- Monitor the surface preparation, application, and curing of the paint coatings on the steel tanks, incinerators, and piping.
- HVAC:
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of the HVAC system, including the ductwork, equipment, and controls. Verify that the system is designed and installed according to the specifications and industry best practices.
- General MEP Experience:
- Demonstrate a broad understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and their integration.
- Assist in the coordination and supervision of the various MEP trades involved in the project.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma/Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction supervision and quality control, preferably in the industrial or infrastructure sector.
- Proven track record in managing and overseeing the installation of mechanical systems, including fuel tanks, piping, welding, and HVAC
- Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations applicable to the incinerator works.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
