Hope Rekindled Initiative is a nonprofit organization based in Kisumu County, dedicated to addressing young peoples’ health and well-being. Our slogan: Empowering young people holistically and we focus on creating a positive impact in their community, aligning their efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals. We have 3 focus areas: Health, Environment and Youth Empowerment. Our approach includes educational programs, awareness campaigns, survivor support linkages, and economic empowerment activities. We prioritise health by promoting health literacy and disease prevention, and we empower women and girls through gender equality initiatives.

1. Staff Volunteer Project Lead – Afya Yetu Hedhi Salama
Position Summary:Â The Project Lead will oversee the Afya Yetu Hedhi Salama project, which uses menstrual hygiene management as an entry point to primary and secondary schools where we have conversations around the triple threat.This role involves strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of project activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify the possible schools for activities, get authorization from the school administration
- Conduct community outreach and awareness campaigns on the triple threat
- Monitor project progress and prepare regular reports for stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities to sustain and expand project activities.
- Collaborate with local schools and community organizations to enhance project impact.
- Facilitate training sessions for volunteers and community members on the triple threat.
- Develop and implement project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Identify prospective partners and initiate conversations to build partnerships and collaborations
- Demonstrate passion for community service and HRI’s mission.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on project activities.
- Ensure inclusive, equitable approaches in all programming.
- Regularly communicate progress and challenges to organizational leadership.

2. Staff Volunteer – Mental Health – Interpersonal Therapy for Group
Position Summary:Â The Project Lead for Mental Health will manage the Interpersonal Therapy for Groups project, focusing on providing mental health support through group therapy sessions. This role requires a strong understanding of mental health issues and the ability to facilitate group discussions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and see the implementation of group therapy sessions tailored to the needs of participants.
- Facilitate discussions that promote mental well-being and coping strategies.
- Monitor participant progress and adapt therapy approaches as needed.
- Conduct outreaches to encourage conversations around mental health
- Develop educational materials on mental health awareness and resources.
- Seek funding opportunities to expand the project and support ongoing mental health initiatives.

3. Staff Volunteer -Project Lead – Campus Voices
Position Summary: The Project Lead for Campus Voices will be responsible for engaging youths in institutions of higher learning in discussions on reproductive health. This role involves organizing events, workshops, and advocacy initiatives that empower students to express their views.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a strategic plan for engaging students in meaningful discussions on RH issues.
- Organize workshops, forums, and events that encourage student participation.
- Facilitate collaborations with student organizations and other stakeholders on campus.
- Create platforms (e.g., social media, newsletters) for students to share their voices and advocate for change.
- Identify potential funding sources to support campus engagement activities.
- Monitor project impact through feedback from participants and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate passion for community service and HRI’s mission.

4. Staff Volunteer – Communications Officer
Position Summary: The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive communication strategy that promotes the organization’s mission, programs, and initiatives. This role is crucial for enhancing public awareness and engagement through various communication channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Communication Strategy: Create and oversee the implementation of a communication strategy aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Content Creation: Draft, edit, and produce high-quality content for various platforms, including newsletters, social media, press releases, and reports.
- Social Media Management: Manage the organization’s social media accounts, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement with followers.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Track the effectiveness of communication efforts and provide regular reports on reach and engagement metrics.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project leads to ensure accurate representation of projects in all communications.

5. Staff Volunteer – Office Administrator
Position Summary:Â The Office Administrator will manage the day-to-day operations of the office while also handling financial tasks and data storage. This role is essential for ensuring organizational efficiency and effective resource management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Office Management: Oversee daily office operations, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and maintaining office supplies.
- Financial Management: Assist in budgeting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting to ensure transparency and accountability in financial practices.
- Data Storage Management: Organize and maintain electronic and physical records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Support Staff Coordination: Provide administrative support to staff members as needed, facilitating smooth communication within the organization.
- Resource Mobilization: Identify potential funding opportunities and assist in preparing grant applications or proposals to secure resources for office operations.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities of an organisational secretary
- Demonstrate passion for community service and HRI’s mission.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on project activities.
- Ensure inclusive, equitable approaches in all programming.

6. Staff Volunteer – Civic Education Lead
The Civic Education Volunteer will be instrumental in developing and implementing programs that educate and empower communities, particularly youth, on governance, electoral processes, and civic responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Design and Implementation: Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars, and discussions on civic education topics such as governance, electoral participation, and community advocacy.
- Resource Mobilization: Identify and pursue funding opportunities, partnerships, and in-kind support to sustain and scale civic education programs. Write grant proposals and collaborate with stakeholders to secure resources for program implementation.
- Community Engagement: Organize and facilitate interactive sessions with community members to open dialogues on civic issues and rights.
- Research and Content Development: Conduct research on governance, policy, and civic issues relevant to the community, integrating findings into program design.
- Youth Engagement:Facilitate programs that inspire and equip young people for active citizenship and leadership.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:Document program outcomes and provide regular reports highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations.
- Advocacy and Partnerships: Advocate for increased awareness of civic rights and responsibilities at all levels of society. Build and maintain partnerships with local governments, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
- Additional Duties: Carry out tasks as directed by the Executive Director.
9. Volunteers
 Commitment
– Minimum Hours: Volunteers are required to commit a minimum of 8 hours per week to support the organization’s activities and initiatives.
– Duration: Volunteers should be prepared to engage with the organization for a minimum period of six months, allowing for meaningful contributions and relationship building.
 Responsibilities
– Engagement in Activities: Volunteers will participate in various activities related to their assigned projects, including outreach, advocacy, and community engagement efforts.
– Resource Mobilization: Volunteers in specific project roles (e.g., Project Leads) will be expected to actively seek resources and funding opportunities to support their initiatives.
– Collaboration: Volunteers will work collaboratively with staff members and other volunteers, contributing to a positive team environment.
 Expectations for all volunteers
- Professional Conduct: Volunteers are expected to maintain professionalism in all interactions, representing Hope Rekindled Initiative positively within the community.
- Training Participation: Volunteers may be required to attend training sessions or workshops relevant to their roles to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
- Be a resident of Kisumu County
- Social Media Presence:Â Volunteers must have an active presence on social media platforms, including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn. This is essential for promoting our initiatives and engaging with the community.
- Vision Alignment:Â Volunteers should have a clear vision for their lives and articulate how volunteering with Hope Rekindled Initiative aligns with their personal and professional goals. This helps ensure that volunteers are motivated and engaged in their roles.
- Proactive Attitude:Â We seek individuals who are proactive, self-motivated, and willing to take initiative in their work. Volunteers should demonstrate a passion for youth work.
Expectations for all volunteers
- Professional Conduct: Volunteers are expected to maintain professionalism in all interactions, representing Hope Rekindled Initiative positively within the community.
- Activity Participation: Volunteers will be required to attend and avail themselves for sessions or workshops or activities relevant to their roles to enhance their skills and knowledge.
All roles are on a voluntary basis and we cannot a-certain provision of a stipend.
