The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has declared 28,647 vacant positions and invited applications from qualified and interested teachers.
In adverts published on December 16, TSC announced 19,943 promotions in line with the Career Progression Guideline for Teachers and another 8707 vacancies to replace teachers who exited service through natural attrition.
The promotions range from chief principals, senior principals, principals, deputy principals, senior lecturers, senior masters, secondary teacher I, senior headteacher (special schools), headteachers, deputy headteachers as well as senior teacher positions.
“Interested candidates, who meet the required qualifications, should submit their applications online through the TSC portal-www.teachersonline.go.ke so as to be received latest 30th December 2024, Midnight,” TSC said.
TSC Vacancies for Chief Principal
There are 44 vacancies for the position chief principal (regular school).
Among the qualifications for this position are that the candidate must have served as a Senior Principal at T-Scale 14 for a minimum of three years and have a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal and performance contracting process.
Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to supervise, mentor, and provide professional support to other teachers and meet any other requirements deemed necessary by the Commission.
The vacant positions for Chief Principal (TTC) T scale 15 are three.
Interested applicants must meet the same qualifications outlined for the first position.
TSC has also advertised 126 vacancies for the position of Senior Principals, regular secondary school (T- Scale 14).
To qualify for these positions, applicants must have served as a principal or Deputy Principal I at T-Scale 13 for at least three years and achieved a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process.
They must also demonstrate their ability to supervise, mentor, and provide professional support to other teachers.
There are three posts available for Chief Principal (TTC) T scale 14 and interested applicants must meet the qualifications for the position of Senior Principal.
Principal T & Deputy Principal Posts
TSC has also advertised 652 Principal T scale 13 positions.
Interested applicants must have served as Deputy Principal II or Senior Master I at T-Scale 12 for at least six months.
“Those who had earlier applied for advert 1 to 4 of 2024 which run from 12th to 18th November 2024 are encouraged to apply,” TSC said.
Three positions are open for Deputy Principal (TTC) at T-Scale 13, while 786 are available for Deputy Principal II (Post-Primary) at T-Scale 12.
Interested candidates for the two positions must have served as Deputy Principal II, Senior Master I, or Senior Lecturer I at T-Scale 12 for at least six months.
They should also have achieved a satisfactory rating in the performance appraisal process and demonstrated the ability to supervise, mentor, and support other teachers professionally.
Other Advertised Promotions
TSC has also advertised 13 vacancies for the position of Senior Lecturer I, TTC (T-Scale 12) and 1,408 openings for the position of Deputy Principal III (Secondary School).
Other positions up for grabs include Senior Lecturer II (TTC) with 32 posts, Senior Master II (secondary SNE) offering 2 posts, Senior Master III (Regular School) with 1987 posts, and Senior Lecturer III (TTC) holding 61 posts.
Additionally, Senior Master IV offers 2,221 posts, while Senior Teacher II (Regular Primary School) has 1,364 posts. Senior Teacher I (SNE Primary School) is offering 81 posts.
There are also 6 openings for Senior Master III (secondary SNE) ,70 vacancies for Senior Lecturer IV (TTC) and 184 posts for Secondary Teacher (Diploma teachers only).
TSC has also advertised the following posts Lecturer I (7), Senior Head-Teacher, regular school (254), Senior Head Teacher, SNE (7), Head-Teacher, regular school (2130) and Head-Teacher, SNE Primary School (33).
Other available positions are Deputy Head Teacher, regular primary school (3653), Deputy Head-Teacher, SNE (33), Senior Teacher I, regular primary school (4703) and Senior Teacher SNE Primary School (77).
Replacements Positions for P1, JSS and Secondary teachers
TSC has announced 5,862 posts for primary schools, 21 posts for junior schools and 2,824 posts for secondary schools.
The teachers recruited will serve on Permanent and Pensionable terms of service.
To qualify for recruitment, a candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
i) Be a Kenyan citizen.
ii) Must be a holder of a P1 certificate in the case of primary schools.
OR a diploma in education in the case of junior and secondary schools.
iii) Must be a registered teacher with Teachers Service Commission.
Mode of Application
Interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Teachers Service Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke under ‘Careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke from Tuesday December 31, 2024, and not later than 13th January 2025.
“Applicants who have not previously been employed by the Teachers Service Commission will be given preference,” TSC said.
