Karen Country Club, the leading private Members Club in East Africa and Central Africa, is seeking to fill the position of Procurement Manager.
Job Summary
This role will bring procurement science, analytics, and systems expertise to the team, leading and enhancing our understanding of the procurement landscape, the innovations, technologies and the processes to drive value and minimize risks. The role will provide detailed knowledge of the supply chain. This means you will be influencing, supporting and shaping the development of the club’s strategy and ways of working. A solid understanding of the industry landscape and how to navigate is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supplier Relationship Management
· Monitor suppliers’ performance and take corrective measures where appropriate.
· Source vendors across all materials and complete onboarding in line with the KCC Procurement Policy.
· Manage and mitigate risks to enable KCC to meet its obligations and maximize business opportunities.
· Create a positive business environment between KCC and its vendors to ensure conducive business partnerships.
· Liaison with Finance to ensure payments are made to suppliers on due dates to ensure smooth operations.
· Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
Contracts Management
· Centralized contracts management with tracker on renewals, terminations and execusions in liasion with line heads of departments.
· Procurement negotiations and management of commitments on contracts and service level agreements between KCC and various vendors.
· Timely review of contracts with legal team before implementation
Financial Management
· Develop and implement cost saving measures across all functions and adherence to the approved budgets.
· Analyze markets and delivery systems to asses present and future materials availability with a forcast to ensure cost containment and savings.
· Conduct market surveys and report on trends and areas of improvement.
· Negotiations for all products to achieve value for money outcomes.
· Provide advice on cost containment and purchase optimisation to the the management.
Procurement Governance
· Ensure compliance with SLA’s, KPI’s by both internal and external stakeholders
· Maintain an audit adherence ready environment that meets the checks and balances for the audit threshold and standards.
· Ensure compliance with with all procurement regulations and legislations as applied to Supply Chain Management.
· Ensure consistency in adherence to and application of KCC procurement policies and procedures, to achieve compliance and efficiency.
Required qualifications and Experience.
· A university degree in Procurement and Supply Management or business administration from a recognized university.
· Advanced diploma in Procurement will be an added advantage.
· Professional qualifications and membership to KISM/CIPS.
· At least 3 years’ experience in similar role.
· Experience in hospitality industry procurement will be an added advantage.
· Knowledge and experience in ERP Systems.
Skills & Experience
· Proven experience in key procurement skills including negotiations, forecasting and benchmarking.
· Strong analytical skills, including forensic understanding of the cost drivers to target and influence costs through end-to-end value.
· Ability to work in an agile, fast moving environment and to keep up with pace of change while prioritizing according to business needs.
· Objectively challenges established practice to stimulate alternative thinking.

· Working across a range of complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
· Multiple projects running at any one time requiring effective management of time and priorities.
· Extensive financial knowledge to understand budgets complexity and savings recognition.
· Strong influencing and communication skills needed to bring stakeholders & suppliers on the journey to successful implementation of projects.

· Ability to hold multiple perspectives and show mental agility in approaching problems.
· Sound commercial awareness.
