PropelA Dual Apprenticeship Application Form – 2024
The PropelA Dual Apprenticeship initiative is a flagship skills development program which promotes an employer-led dual apprenticeship system for the construction sector in Kenya. The project seeks to find lasting solutions to the rising demand and low supply of qualified technical skills in the market particularly, the plumbing and electrical trades. The apprentices gain relevant skills training through the combination of two learning locations: on-the-job training in companies and theoretical learning. The training model is organized in a way that the apprentices will work in the private partner company for 3 weeks a month under the mentorship and supervision of designated company mentors and will attend the TVET school 1 week a month at Don Bosco Boys Town – Karen.
What You Need to Know Before Applying
- This application form is the first step for everyone wishing to join the PropelA Dual Apprenticeship Program
- Applicants MUST be between the age of 18 – 24 years and must have completed their secondary school education
- The minimum required qualification for this program is a KCSE certificate with a minimum grade of D+
- This initiative is employer led. This means every employer has a right to choose who to work with at their own discretion
- Progressing to the next recruitment stage doesn’t guarantee an apprenticeship opportunity
- The two courses being offered are Electrical Installation and Plumbing
- Both courses involve physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy equipment, digging trenches, and general labor at construction sites and the school workshop
- Successful admission to the program requires a two-year commitment to both school and work Participants are financially responsible for all transportation costs associated with attending both
- The learning will take place in-company and in-school at Don Bosco Boys Town- Karen
- Applicants MUST be within NAIROBI during the two-year period of apprenticeship
- Successful applicants will be contacted for the next recruitment which requires an aptitude test
