Organization Description
WeWorld is an Italian independent non-governmental organisation working in Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid projects in 25 countries worldwide, including Italy. The NGO carries out 128 projects reaching over 2.4 million direct beneficiaries and 12.3 million indirect beneficiaries. Children, women and youth, actors of change in every community, are the protagonists of WeWorld projects and campaigns in the following fields of intervention: gender equality, prevention and contrast of violence against women and children, migrations, humanitarian aid (prevention, aid and reconstruction), food security, water and sanitation, health, education and learning, socio-economic development, environmental protection, global citizenship education and international volunteering.
WeWorld has been working in Kenya since 2009 and is currently supporting vulnerable populations through multi-sectoral interventions.
OVERVIEW
Project assistant /Field Officers (multiple Position) Gender Project–Narok
Duty station: The posts will be in Narok, with extensive travel to project areas in Narok County and with possible travels to the Nairobi office
Report to: We World GBV Project Officer in Narok and Project Coordinator –AICS Project
Duties and Responsibilities
In relation to the implementation of the project activities, each Field Officer will have to perform the following specific tasks:
- Plans, coordinates and executes field activities in the context of the project;
- Establishes and maintains solid relationships with all stakeholders.
- involved in the project, facilitating active participation and understanding of gender dynamics and health services;
- Participate in community mobilization activities
- Supports the logistical aspects of monitoring visits;
- Collects field data to monitor the effectiveness of activities, including reported cases of gender violence and the functioning of hospital facilities;
- Collaborates with target schools ensuring constant and good working relationship with school staff for the monitoring and updating of information
- Collaborates with the staff of the hospital facilities involved, identifying specific needs and facilitating coordination between health services and initiatives against gender violence;
- Ensures accurate and timely reporting of activities in accordance with the organization’s internal regulations and the rules of the financing body.
- Gather data at school, health facility and community level and use a dataset to track the changes
- Participate in the learning, monitoring and evaluation activities of the organization in liaison with the Project and MEAL officer
- Upholds the highest standard of confidentiality when managing records to ensure beneficiary dignity and privacy
- Participates in measurement and tracking project performance using appropriate tools and techniques specifically to analyse the successful completion of short and long-term goals
- Participates, creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation

We World procedures - Provides logistical support for the organization capacity developmentworkshops, meetings and other forums.
- Performs any other duty connected to the function that might be assigned by the Project coordinator
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in community health, community development, social sciences, business management, project management or any other relevant field
- At least 2 years of experience in gender, school work, and community development;
- Excellent communication (writing and oral) skills and reporting skills in English
- Proficiency in Maa Language is a must
- Excellent in Excel, and other MS Office packages (Word, PowerPoint,), Web and social media skills
- Proactive, articulate, resourceful, solutions-oriented and results-oriented.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to manage effectively multiple tasks
- Displays cultural, gender, religion, diversity and age sensitivity and adaptability
- Works well as a team in a multi-cultural environment while maintaining a high
level of motivation
Assets
- Previous experience in addressingsexual reproductive health and gender-based violence
- Demonstrable community based tasks in child protection work and previous roles supporting child protection activities
- Ability to work with a variety of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and government authorities at different levels
- Flexibility and ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment,
- Affinity for or interest in Gender and SRH
