The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) is a State Corporation established under the Forest Conservation & Management Act FCMA), 2016. The Mandate of KFS is to protect, conserve, develop and sustainably manage forests and allied resources for environmental stability and the social-economic benefits for the present and future generation. In addition, KFS provides technical advisory services to the County Governments to execute their respective devolved forestry functions.

In order to strengthen its human resource capacity, the Service wishes to recruit qualified competent staff to fill the following vacant positions listed below on permanent and pensionable terms to enable it fulfill its mandate effectively and drive the country towards the attainment of 30% tree cover by 2032.

ASSISTANT OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR III – REF KFS/AOA/III/2024 – KFS GRADE 11 – (32) POSITIONS

Entry Requirements :

  1. Business Education Single and Group Certificates (BES & GC) from the Kenya
  2. National Examinations Council in the following subjects:
  3. Typewriting II (minimum 40 W.P.M)/Computerized Document Processing III
  4. Office Management II / Office Administration and Management III
  5. Business English II/ Communications II;
  6. Office Practice II;
  7. Commerce I;
  8. Certificate in computer applications skills from a recognized institution.
  9. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance.
  10. Member of Kenya National Secretaries Association (KENASA).
  11. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of Constitution.

OR

  1. Certificate in Public Relations and Customer Care course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from the Kenya School of Government or any other recognized institution;
  2. Certificate in computer applications skills from a recognized institution; and
  3. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance.
  4. Member of the Kenya National Secretaries Association (KENASA).
  5. Certificate in computer applications skills from a recognized institution.
  6. Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance.
  7. Member of Kenya National Secretaries Association (KENASA).
  8. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of Constitution.

An officer at this level shall report to a senior officer

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Taking oral dictation;
  2. Managing e-office;
  3. Word and data processing from manuscripts;
  4. Preparing responses to simple routing correspondences;
  5. Operating office equipment;
  6. Establishing and monitoring procedures for record keeping of correspondences and file movements;
  7. Ensuring security of office records and equipment;
  8. Documents and records;
  9. Attending to visitors/clients;
  10. Maintaining office diary and travel itineraries;
  11. Maintaining an up-to-date filing system in the office;
  12. Ensuring security, integrity and confidentiality of data;
  13. Managing office protocol and etiquette;
  14. Supervising Office Cleanliness;
  15. Managing Office petty cash;
  16. Handling telephone calls and appointments; and
  17. Undertaking any other office administrative service duties that may be assigned.
