The position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced HR & Administration Consultant to join our team `for a short-term consultancy project. The primary focus of this role is to support the development of content for an HR & Administration training guide tailored to NGOs/CSOs based in East Africa. The project and the recruitment are conducted in collaboration with Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF) based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Main Tasks:

The Content Creator will play a crucial role in designing and developing an engaging and informative training module covering various aspects of HR policies and procedures relevant to NGOs. This includes

Key Deliverables:

  • Conduct in-depth research on HR policies and procedures applicable to NGOs, considering relevant regulations and industry standards according to Kenyan regulations.
  • Develop an inception report which will outline key courses and sub-topics to be covered under the manual and preliminary overview of the guideline. The inception report will outline the formats and overall structure of the final deliverables. Some of the  proposed modules include recruitment, onboarding, staff development, performance management, exit processes, safeguarding, risk management, conflict resolution, whistle-blowing policies, procurement and code of conduct.
  • A training manual which will be a consolidation of different modules/curated course content on HR & Administration for Civil Society Organizations. Each module will have key learning objectives and integrated learner assessment exercises.
  • A concise and aligned facilitator guide which will inform the trainer’s delivery process of the manual/courses.
  • Collaborate closely with NGO stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy, relevance, and cultural sensitivity of the training content.
  • Design assessment tools and evaluation mechanisms to measure learning outcomes and the effectiveness of the training module.
  • Provide guidance and support to trainers or facilitators delivering the training module, including train-the-trainer sessions if required.

Your profile

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, International Development, Education or related field.
  • Proven experience in training design and development, or content creation, preferably in the context of NGOs in Kenya.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and compliance requirements specific to the NGO sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and engagingly.
  • Proficiency in multimedia tools and platforms for content creation.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.

Highly Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working with NGOs particularly in the areas of HR capacity building, organizational development, or training.
  • Familiarity with participatory approaches to training and adult learning principles.
