Calling all international students and recent graduates! Do you dream of experiencing Japanese culture while gaining valuable work experience? The METI Government of Japan Internship Program offers an incredible opportunity to intern at a small to medium-sized company in Japan.
About the Program
This program connects international talent with exciting internship opportunities in Japan. Interns can choose between:
- In-person internships: Immerse yourself in Japanese work culture by interning at a company located in Japan (excluding industry associations, non-profit organizations, and local governments).
- Online internships: Gain valuable experience remotely from your home workspace under the guidance of a Japanese company.
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to citizens of eligible countries and regions (you can apply even if you reside in a different country than your nationality). However, those currently living in Japan are not eligible.
Here are the key requirements:
- Age: 18 to 40 years old as of August 1, 2024.
- Language proficiency: Japanese language proficiency (JLPT level N3 or higher) or strong English language skills.
- Academic background: Students must be able to submit a certificate of enrollment and a letter of recommendation from their university. Recent graduates must provide a graduation certificate and a recommendation letter.
- Dedication: You must be fully committed to the internship program and able to follow the schedule set by the program office.
- Openness to new experiences: Be prepared to meet additional company-specific requirements.
- Fresh start: Only those who haven’t participated in the program between 2016 and 2023 are eligible.
