Save the Elephants (STE), a leading organization dedicated to securing a future for these magnificent creatures, is seeking a dedicated and qualified Camp Assistant to join their team at the Samburu camp in Kenya.

About the role:

As a Camp Assistant at Save the Elephants, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Samburu camp. You’ll work alongside the Camp Manager to provide administrative, logistical, and safety support, directly contributing to the well-being of staff, researchers, and visitors dedicated to elephant conservation

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide Administrative Support: Maintain camp records, manage staff leave and illness, prepare reports, and respond to inquiries from staff and visitors.
  • Coordinate Logistics: Schedule maintenance for vehicles and aircraft, arrange transportation and accommodation for researchers and visitors, source supplies, and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Maintain the Camp: Inspect camp facilities for any issues, report problems promptly, coordinate repairs, and ensure overall cleanliness of the camp.
  • Prioritize Safety & Security: Enforce established safety protocols, conduct safety briefings for staff and visitors, perform regular safety audits, respond to incidents, and escalate serious issues as needed.
  • Be Adaptable and Willing: Assist with various tasks as assigned by the Camp Manager, demonstrating a flexible and helpful attitude.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • A minimum of a Diploma qualification
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in camp management, hospitality, or administrative roles in a similar field.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse team and visitors.
  • A team player with the ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
