Machine Specialist

 

Key Purpose Statement

The primary role of the Machine Specialist is to maintain, repair and optimise plant and associated devices to ensure that plant availability and product quality at minimum cost; without sacrificing standards. The role also entails providing specialised machine skill and knowledge to the shift team, and to support the operations, maintenance and problem solving activities of the shift teams.

Key Duties & Responsibilities    

  • Provide Specialist support to the shift based teams during operations.  This will include standby and day shift support
  • Where requested, assist as a functional expert in problem solving
  • Provide guidance and advice to the shift based teams on machine operation, machine fault finding and correct responses to machine failure modes
  • Train, coach, assess and sign-off PA’s and Operators on asset care and autonomous maintenance practices
  • Review SIC’s and address deviations regularly
  • Take part, as a functional expert, in regional and central plant optimisation trials
  • Development of operational, technical and work instructions
  • Ensure adherence to NPD procedures
  • Efficiently applies rigour and operating discipline to ensure decisions are made on a timely basis

Skills, Experience & Education
Experience

  • 5 years’ work experience (FMCG an added advantage)
  • PC literacy essential – Microsoft packages
  • Knowledge of D365

Education

  • Diploma in Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering
  • N6 with Trade Test (Millwright)

 

Artisan Mechanical Process

 

Key Purpose Statement

The primary role of the Artisan Mechanical Process is operation of the process area according to work instructions, the execution of non-destructive quality checks and carrying out of routine maintenance. The Artisan Mechanical Process has a primary focus on the asset care activities of the team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities    

  • Provide support to the shift based teams during operations.
  • Attends SBT/SBU meetings and ensures that the previous day’s actions have been actioned
  • Assist shift based teams with situational problem solving.
  • Coach the shift based teams on machine operation, machine fault finding and correct responses to machine failure modes.
  • Ability to stand in for the Production Team Leader where required
  • Ability to work in shifts
  • Carry out work during the planned maintenance window in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule issued by the Planner
  • Aware of good health and safety practices
  • Optimisation of maintenance schedules
  • Carry out routine maintenance activities in accordance with the maintenance schedule
  • Apply the correct problem solving methodologies to resolve problems
  • Adhere to appropriate CCBK policies and procedures
  • Support NPD trials to be able to run on assets

Skills, Experience & Education
Experience

  • 1 year relevant technical experience in an FMCG environment
  • Equipment functionality and packaging process in process area

Education

  • Diploma in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering
  • Minimum requirement: N3 (mechanical / electrical) & Trade test (some instrumentation)
  • Added advantage: N6 Millwright & Trade test (Millwright)

Operator Process

 

Key Purpose Statement

The primary role of the Operator Process is operation of the process area according to work instructions, the execution of destructive and non-destructive quality checks and carrying out of autonomous maintenance. The Operator Process has a primary focus on the quality control activities of the team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities    

  • Operation of the process area according to work instructions,
  • Execution of destructive and non-destructive quality checks and carrying out of autonomous maintenance.
  • Focus on the quality control activities of the team
  • Preparation for the next shift
  • Change overs done as per requirements
  • CIPs done as per SOPs
  • GMP maintained
  • Operate and maintain the filler and packer machine
  • Ensure integrity of process and quality
  • Ensure personal and machine safety

Skills, Experience & Education
Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience in equipment maintenance in a food processing company
  • Knowledge of Production Processes

Education

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
