ICT Officers

Overall purpose of the job
Reporting to the head of ICT department, the incumbent will be responsible for implementing ICT policies and procedures to effectively and efficiently deliver the ICT support services.
Job specifications (duties)
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
- Assisting in setting up, configuring and maintaining all Kenya school of law servers, desktops, mobiles, hardware, systems and applications to ensure smooth flow of ICT operations;
- Assisting in performing daily systems monitoring, verify integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing systems and applications logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups to ensure availability and efficiency of the systems;
- Assisting in managing all Kenya School of Law backups for disaster recovery process to ensure continuity of operations;
- Assisting in developing and maintaining IT documentation processes and procedures to ensure consistent and harmonious operations in the department;
- Assisting in supporting in-house users on all aspects of ICT to ensure effective and efficient use of the systems;
- Assisting in creating, change and delete user accounts as per requests to ensure up to date user accounts;
- Assisting in Appling operating systems patches and upgrades on regular basis to enhance systems’ security; and
- Assisting in providing specifications for ICT equipment and systems to ensure conformance to user needs and standards.
Persons’ specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –
- Bachelors in IT/Computer Science from a recognized institution; and
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution.
Library Assistant
Overall purpose of the job
Reporting to the Principal Librarian, the incumbent will assist in implementation of library and information policies, procedures and processes.
Job specifications (duties)
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
- Assisting in undertaking Library and information services assignments in line with the approved Library strategies, policies and procedures for adequacy and effectiveness of the services offered;
- Assisting in safeguarding the Library assets by establishing appropriate means of verifying their existence, ownership and valuation;
- Assisting in stamping and pasting of newly acquired print Library materials;
- Assisting in physical accessioning of print Library material;
- Assisting in organizing and managing periodicals/reference/reprographic services/archives/special collection/rare books section;
- Assisting in offering circulation services to Library users;
- Assisting in stock taking exercise;
- Assisting in organization and shelving of information resources to ensure easy retrieval; and
- Assisting in shifts.
Persons’ specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –
- Diploma in Library and Information Science or Computer Science from a recognized Institution;
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution; and
- Proficiency in Computer Applications.
Plumber
Overall purpose of the job
Reporting to the Senior Officer, Estate and Administration, the incumbent will carry out plumbing works in the School to ensure that the day to day operations are smoothly.
Job specifications (duties)
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: –
- Reporting and replace plumbing parts that are worn out or spoilt;
- Repairing all water leakages to eliminate wastage through repair of faulty pipe connections in the institution;
- Notifying supervisors on any material that needs replacement or maintenance to ensure constant flow of water within the institution;
- Visually inspecting equipment and operate test equipment such as pressure gauges to determine the cause and location of problem;
- Maintaining plumbing tools and equipment and ensuring they are in safe operating condition;
- Repairing and assess all plumbing works in vacated houses immediately a tenant vacates;
- Clearing obstructions/ blockages from sinks, drains and toilets;
- Interpreting blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials; and
- Maintaining of solar water heating system in strategic high energy usage areas.
Persons’ specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –
- Minimum of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D+ or its equivalent; and
- Craft Certificate in Plumbing.
