Established in 2021, KEPRO is a Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) bringing together key stakeholders handling non-hazardous packaging products in Kenya. Our purpose is to accelerate the growth of Kenya’s Recycling Ecosystem, leading to a Circular Economy that will protect our natural environment & create jobs for future generations. Our mission is to facilitate the responsible management of waste generated by products and packaging, ensuring that producers take responsibility for the entire lifecycle of their products. We work closely with producers, government agencies, and stakeholders to create a circular economy and reduce the environmental impact of post-consumer waste.

Title: Finance Intern

Job Purpose: As a Finance Intern, you will work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate record-keeping, timely processing of financial transactions, and adherence to financial regulations. This role is integral to the smooth functioning of KEPRO’s financial processes as it works towards accelerating the growth of Kenya’s Recycling Ecosystem and fostering a Circular Economy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable (Tax Invoices to Members), and general ledger entries.
- Tax Invoice Processing: Assist in processing Tax invoices for Members and ensuring timely issuance of the Tax Invoices to Members.
- Bank Reconciliation: Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure consistency between KEPRO’s financial records and bank
- Expense Tracking: Monitor and track expenses, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines and identifying areas for cost-saving
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow
- Assistance in Audits: Provide support during internal and external audits by organizing financial documents and responding to auditor
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and internal
- Communication: Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide support as needed.
- Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance to the finance team, including filing documents, organizing records, and managing
Qualifications and Personal Attributes
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Business Development or a related
- CPA 2 (Sections 1 to 4) is
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in a membership-related corporate or nonprofit
- Understanding of EPR: Familiarity with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Circular Economy concepts and environmental sustainability initiatives is
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., ZOHO and SAP) and Microsoft
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and accuracy in financial data
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues and external
- Organizational Skills: Effective organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced
- Ethical Standards: Demonstrated integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality in handling financial
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently with minimal
- Team Player: Collaborative mindset with a willingness to contribute to team goals and support colleagues as needed.

Job Purpose: As a Membership Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting our efforts to engage and serve our members effectively. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of sustainable practices while gaining valuable experience in membership management and environmental stewardship.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your specific duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Initiate and conduct proactive communication with members approaching their renewal
- Provide personalized support and facilitate seamless renewal processes for members to ensure ongoing engagement and
- Assist members with monthly volume declarations, ensuring compliance and accuracy with reporting
- Help members navigate the declaration process and address any issues or questions that may
- Provide on-site assistance to members, including conducting visits to member facilities as needed.
- Address member queries and concerns and offer timely support through our help desk services to ensure a positive membership
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of membership data to derive insights for informed decision-making and tailored membership
- Utilize data analytics techniques to identify trends, track membership metrics, and assess the effectiveness of membership engagement
- Develop and implement strategies to increase member involvement and participation in organizational
- Plan and coordinate events, workshops, and outreach activities to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, Business Development, Marketing, Data analysis, or related
- Passion for environmental sustainability and commitment to promoting responsible waste management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage with diverse
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel or Google
- Proactive attitude with the ability to take initiative and work
- Previous experience in membership management, customer service, or environmental advocacy is a plus.
