RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate shall report functionally to the Director of Information and Communications Technology, and administratively to the Regional Director of Nairobi regional Office. The ICT Professional will be responsible for the development, supervision, and implementation of ICT operational functions to ensure that the region achieves its technological objectives.
DUTIES / JOB DETAILS
The duties of the ICT Professional comprise amongst others:
- The ICT Professional’s role is to manage and ensure the efficient operation of the regional office’s network, servers, databases, and equipment. This includes monitoring and diagnosing network and hardware problems. He/she will also work closely with the other IT officers, staff, and decision-makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the regional & contact office.
- Lead regional IT department operational planning and initiatives and organize and negotiate the allocation of IT resources.
- Ensure the efficient utilization of IT resources – including personnel and equipment – across the regional and contact offices.
- Oversee all reports and documentation related to network and systems operations.
- Develop maintenance schedules for network and systems equipment.
- Enforce usage of policies and procedures, including those for network architecture, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT systems, including networks, data centers, servers, PCs, operating systems, and associated hardware.
- Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the network infrastructure and IT systems.
- Provide first and second-line technical hardware and software support, which are but not limited to the following: installation, configuration, administration, documentation, and maintenance of desktop systems and associated equipment.
- Protect the integrity of the Company’s ICT assets.
- Making recommendations to the regional office & director of ICT on software/hardware needs.
- Provide first-level user support for the corporation’s core applications.
- Attending to other duties as may be assigned by the Corporation or management from time to time.
- Full implementation of a paperless environment.
- Other responsibilities assigned by the director of ICT.
- Liaise with external suppliers/vendors of ICT equipment, software, and services, to ensure appropriate service, support, and guidance.
- Participate in ICT projects, making technical input, and participating as a full-time project team member when required.
- Keep up to date with technological changes in the ICT industry, and develop new skills in response to these, and in accordance with the Company’s ICT strategy.
- Manage data and other information resources of the Company with the highest levels of professionalism, competence, diligence, and confidentiality.
- Participate in developing and providing required routine and ad-hoc reports, and in developing and deploying applications, within established company policies and procedures
- To always be courteous, patient, and tactful, and to exercise the highest standards of customer care.
- Train users on new systems and applications.
- Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
- Stay current on the latest cybersecurity threats and implement measures to protect against them.
- Develop, test, and deploy software applications to meet organizational needs.
- Integrate new software with existing systems and databases.
- Collaborate with software developers and vendors to implement customized solutions
JOB LOCATION
The successful candidate shall be based in Nairobi (Kenya) but could be later transferred to other Offices of the Corporation.

- Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development.
- Strong understanding of ICT governance procedures: ITIL, COBIT
- Strong understanding of IT Operations Practices in a 24/7 support environment

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 & SharePoint
- Good knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite or DXC reinsurance software SICS.

- Good knowledge of data analysis, manipulation, and business intelligence solutions
- Proven capacity to work well under pressure

Academic Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Applicants shall be holders of a;
- First University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or equivalent plus 10 years post-qualification relevant work experience as an ICT Professional.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The successful candidate shall have the following benefits:

- Variable pay (Annual Performance Bonus)
- Joint contribution to the Provident Fund (7% of the basic salary paid by staff and 14% by the employer)

- Good familiarity with other IT infrastructure technologies such as virtualization, cloud computing, storage and backup solutions, Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN), databases, and telephony systems.
- Additional relevant professional IT qualifications will be an added advantage
- Strong re-insurance business knowledge
- Fluent in English and having a working knowledge of French shall be an added advantage.
- Additional relevant professional IT qualifications will be an added advantage
- Nationals of one of the 42-member States of Africa Re.
