KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Content Creation and Management:
- Create captivating and informative content across various platforms including SORALO’s annual report, website, social media platforms, newsletters, and other communication avenues.
- Implement a content management strategy ensuring consistency, relevance, and alignment with organisational objectives.
- Collaborate with graphic designers, website developers, content creators, and multimedia specialists to produce compelling products for SORALO.
Development of a Comprehensive Communication Strategy:
- Spearhead the review and implementation of an ambitious, strategic communications strategy and plan for SORALO.
- Monitor conservation communications trends and integrate innovative communication ideas and strategies for enhanced outreach and impact.
Relationship Building and Media Leadership:
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with key communication stakeholders including media outlets, journalists, filmmakers, thought influencers and more.
- Lead media relations efforts, coordinating interviews, press releases, and media coverage to bolster SORALO’s visibility and reputation.
Copywriting and Editing Expertise:
- Write and edit content for a diverse array of materials such as reports, brochures, presentations, and press materials.
- Ensure consistency in messaging and brand tone across all communication collateral. Brand Management and Consistency:
- Working closely with the rest of the team, build a strong brand guide for SORALO. Contribute to managing SORALO’s brand identity, ensuring uniformity and coherence across all communication platforms.
- Implement strategies to maintain a strong, positive brand image aligned with organisational values and mission.
Support in Fundraising Initiatives and Reporting:
- Create persuasive and impactful content and campaigns to support fundraising endeavours, crafting compelling narratives that resonate with potential donors and supporters.
- Assist in grant writing as needed by aligning proposals with SORALO’s objectives and effectively communicating its impact.
Analytical Evaluation and Strategic Advisory:
- Employ analytical tools to assess communication effectiveness and generate quarterly reports.
- Provide strategic counsel to leadership, using communication insights to inform decision-making processes and drive organisational objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, preferably in a conservation, environmental or non-profit organisation.
- An excellent writer and storyteller.
- Experience in creating and implementing communication strategies and plans.
- Ability to manage digital communication platforms, including social media, email marketing, and websites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of and real interest and curiosity of conservation and environmental issues.
- Ability to think strategically and identify how communications can add value to an organisation at both a high level and on the ground.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
