ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
HealthRight Kenya is a health and human rights organization working to build lasting access to health for marginalized communities. Since its founding in 1990 by the late Dr. Jonathan Mann, HealthRight Kenya has worked in over 10 counties with current projects in West Pokot, Narok and Trans Nzoia counties. HealthRight Kenya works closely with marginalized communities and establishes local partnerships to deliver health services, while providing training and equipment to improve health systems. We focus on 4 priority areas: RMNCAH, HIV, Mental Health, and Violence. The four program areas address intersecting health issues that disproportionately affect marginalized communities such as refugees and migrants, LGBTQ+ communities, HIV-affected communities, Survivors of Gender Based Violence, Women, Children and adolescents and Indigenous people and Ethnic Minorities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This description of duties and responsibilities is intended to indicate the kind of tasks required of the Intern. It does not limit or exclude other duties not mentioned here but required for the successful execution of the duties.
Finance
- Review program expense returns from the field staff and present them to Finance Officer for final review and approval.
- Maintain and secure proper document files for all HealthRight transactions.
- Ensure compliance with HealthRight financial procedures and guidelines.
- Assist to present accounting documents for both internal & external auditing.
- Ensure prompt and adequate communication to ensure effective coordination of all activities staff or organization is involved in.
Administration
- Track stocks of office supplies and place orders when necessary
- Ensure new assets are tagged as well as carrying out periodic physical check.
Procurement
- Coordinate the requests, receipt and evaluation of quotations or proposals for goods or services.
- Collate and present procurement documentation to the relevant Tender and Disposals Committees for review and award.
- Ensuring user departments adhere to procurement plans in line with budgets.
- Coordinate the pre-qualification of vendors.
- Submit procurement documents, contracts and LPOS for payment processing.
Logistics
- Manage travel arrangements /appointments etc. for the management team.
- Vehicle management by tracking their movement and monitoring staff requests on movement to project sites.
- Reconcile monthly mileage reports with fuel consumption and staff movement requests.
- Perform other duties as may be allocated by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Be undertaking CPA Course or a 3rd or 4th year bachelors/ diploma student in Accounting, Finance, Procurement, Supply chain management, Business Management, or any related course.
- Must be available on a full-time basis, for the entire period of the internship which will be a maximum of 6 months.
- Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting system will be an added advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate good character, creativity, honesty, positive attitude, ability to learn.
- Ability to generate innovative solutions in work situations.
