The Washington State University Global Health – Kenya (WSU GH – Kenya) is a legally registered NGO in Kenya. WSU GH – Kenya serves to manage a broad range of public health research projects in Kenya supported by Washington State University (WSU) and its collaborating partners. The WSU GH – Kenya research program has the following opening:

Position: Project Procurement Officer (1 position)
Location: Nairobi
Duration:  One (1) year
Reports to: Chief Procurement Officer

 

Position Description:

The Project Procurement Officer will work closely with and provide day-to-day procurement support to projects through the procurement office.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct procurement processes in line with the WSU GH – Kenya set policies, donor regulations, and the regulatory framework set up in Kenya.
• Receive, consolidate, and sort purchase requisitions from end users into appropriate categories and generate requests for quotations for these projects.
• Track requests and orders, and follow up on delivery timelines.
• Liaise with the warehouse to ensure goods delivered meet specifications and are dispatched to sentinel sites within specified timelines.
• Generate day-to-day raw data requisite documents and reports.
• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date filing system for in-country purchasing documents.
• Any other responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.

 

Requirements

• At least a bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Procurement and contracting, Supply Chain Management, or other related Procurement fields.
• At least three (3) years of progressive experience in the field of Procurement, preferably in a public health-related NGO
• Must be a member of KISM. CIPS membership will be an added advantage
• Must have relevant experience in process management using ERP systems

• Ability to engender strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Ability to handle multiple and conflicting priorities, and work under strict deadlines.
• Ability to prioritize, pays high attention to detail, and is highly proficient.
• Ability to negotiate.
• Should be proficient in communicating both verbally and in writing.
• Should possess great analytical skills and be attentive to details.
