DCA is seeking to recruit a competent and energetic Kenyan National for an eight month internship asMulti Purpose Cash Transfer (MPCT) Intern to support cash-based interventions for vulnerable refugee households. The position is based in Kakuma and reports to the Project Assistant – Cash-Based Interventions, with support from the Project Officer – Financial Inclusion.
The main responsibilities of the Intern – MPCT are:
Community mobilization and sensitization
- Participate in community mobilization and sensitization on the project objectives and execution approach.
- Assist in identification, verification and selection of target households using the defined targeting criteria, working closely with the Department of Refugee Services (DRS)
- Maintain a detailed beneficiary database and ensure it is updated regularly or on a need basis.
Conduct post distribution monitoring, reporting and relevant surveys
- Participate in baseline and endline surveys and assist the M & E focal person in data analysis and reporting.
- Assist in monthly Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM) survey to assess the utilization, identify distribution challenges and the impact of the cash transfer.
- Contribute to regular reports and updates on the progress of all the field activities.
Support cash transfer to right holders
- Support the actual transfer of the cash to selected beneficiaries, liaising with finance to ensure all perquisite documentations are in place.
- Support in the planning and coordination of meetings, workshops and field visits related to the cash transfer programme.
Support in establishing a robust accountability and learning system
- Ensure regular communication with the rightholders and the community to inform, identify challenges with the programme and take corrective actions in consultation with the Line Manager.
- Support in documentation and compiling of lessons learned and best practices from the programme.
- Assist in the coordination and training for different actors involved in the implementation of the programme in accountability.
Any other task as may be directed by the Line Manager.
Required technical skills, experience & knowledge:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences (Community development, Development Studies, Humanitarian Affairs) or any other relevant field.
- At least three months experience working in the humanitarian context in cash programming or protection, preferably in a refugee context.
- Some understanding of cash transfer programming in humanitarian response or protection mainstreaming is an added advantage.
Desired:

- An excellent team player and able to adapt to new environments within a short time.
- Strong organizational skills
