Before you make a judgment about someone being lazy, reconsider your thoughts! Yes, consider carefully. They appear inactive, and society has categorized them as lacking passion.

Nevertheless, it is observed that many entrepreneurs frequently fly from one holiday to another without negatively impacting their business operations.

You would argue that their first success was due to their hard labor, but I would counter that they disliked the hard work and instead sought a means to make it transitory.

Inefficient entrepreneurs may give the impression of being diligent, but in reality, they dislike the idea of working and, therefore, avoid it. Surprisingly, they nonetheless manage to achieve greater success.

In what manner?

If you carefully study this article, you will comprehend why individuals who lack motivation achieve greater success as entrepreneurs.

What does it genuinely mean to be lazy?

Laziness doesn’t imply doing nothing, and laziness is not the same as inactivity; inactivity implies doing nothing, while laziness means not doing it yourself.

If you can persuade others to do it for you or find leverage to achieve more, you can be as productive or perhaps more productive than the hard-working guy.

Laziness is assessed in production, not activity. So, a man may put the appropriate people in the proper location to do only what he should do. Another man is the “do it all” type of guy who achieves little or nothing.

Who’s more productive?

The less productive is the laziest. Learn to see lethargy in terms of productivity.

Below are the reasons why lazy people achieve more as entrepreneurs.

1. They are essentially unemployable

Nobody wants a lazy guy on the team. The look of employment scares them to the bone. They lack the discipline to perform the 9-5 kind of job; therefore, they hunt for enterprises they can operate without being accused of being lazy or terminated from a job.

This becomes the birth of their business spirit.

Hardworking people can measure up to any challenge; therefore, they are in high demand in the labor market—they get things done.

The lazy guy starts and goes in search of the hard-working guy too and buys him over to the team since he enjoys his free time, though willing to pay the price of starting up, but works quicker enough to restore his freedom and enjoys his idleness.

2. They find easier techniques for performing a difficult task faster.

There’s a difficult assignment; the hard-working guy dives in and gets started, but the lazy man finds a simpler way.

Why? Because he is too lazy to handle the pressure.

I want to believe the guy who designed the Tv remote was lazy, or rather thinks like a lazy man who just can’t stand up from the cushion to change the station.

Perhaps in the near future, we can control our phones and home appliances with voice commands. Amazon Alexa, Google help and Apple Siri is making it possible.

I read one of Bill gates’ quote

“If you want to get a task done faster, give it to a lazy man; he’ll find an easier and faster means of doing it”.

Lazy people indeed cause disruptive innovation. Always have one on your squad. He will always suggest an easier way to do it. They abhor “unnecessary” stress.

3. They have an eye for talent.

Those who are lazy are free spirits who, in their hearts, want to be active—just not how society views it.

Tell them what to do, and their head starts thinking of a shortcut. They typically ask themselves, “Who can I pay to do this?”

This makes them develop an eye for abilities. They effortlessly uncover the strength in others and find a way to get them on board.

The hardworking guy wouldn’t easily perceive talent when it appears simply because his attitude is if I can do it, why employ someone?

So, they hardly delegate; they are brilliant at multi-tasking, one of the sole reasons they overwork themselves while neglecting other vital elements of their lives, especially their health and families.

Not everything you can accomplish should be done by you. Empower people, and then do only what you alone should do.

4. They get things done through others.

Elimination and delegation are two of the most effective management strategies. Eliminating the trivial and seemingly vital chores that bring no productive value towards attaining the organization’s goals and then distributing responsibilities to strengths that can get it done.

This is the lifestyle of a lazy entrepreneur. He gets a lot of things done but barely by himself.

They know how to make an idea work. He’s willing to hire the best hands to attain the best results.

But the problem with a lazy business owner is that he feels compelled to assign others even tasks that he ought to perform himself.

Not all duties are meant to be assigned. Learning this balance is the success of the lazy entrepreneur.

5. They establish systems

As Tim Ferriss puts it in his book 4 Hours Work Week, the lazy guys love their holidays, long for free time, and want the freedom of 4 Hours Work Week.

Whatever your job description, a 4-hour work week is achievable if you learn to be lazy. The lazy entrepreneur wants to spend enough time at home. Like Richard Branson, they frequently work from home, with beyond-reach results.

However, the lazy guy knows if he must live that kind of life, he must find a means to make things run without him or in his absence when he embarks on vacation, hobbies, etc.

So, from the onset, he starts constructing procedures around his business and hires better people. They usually establish a company and give way for someone else to become the CEO. One thing the hard-working guy would find hard to do.

This is not to mean that you give up control of your organization. But just because you founded it does not mean you should or will manage it forever.

It is preferable to watch others succeed in front of you rather than worrying every time you are absent and feeling that no one else can perform the task as well as you.

5. This is insecurity.

One day, you surely will give up control, so do it wisely and consciously rather than letting circumstances of health, death, or things beyond your control compel you to do so against your will.

The earlier you develop systems around your firm, the better, and the more time you’ll have for yourself.

In conclusion

Although disliked by many, laziness encourages us to explore ways to accomplish more with less time and effort. This indirectly motivates us to be more efficient.

It’s little wonder one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs, Bill Gates, says, “I will always choose a lazy person to do a difficult job. Because a lazy person will find an easier method to do it”.

So, before you decide on a lazy guy, consider carefully!
