As a Roasted Truth Barista, you would…

  • Emulate Ikigai’s core values and strive to achieve our mission
  • Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all Ikigai members/guests in the Space
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace and dining area
  • Update Roasted Truth signage and displays
  • Continuously expand your knowledge of food and beverage quality controls, and preparation and presentation methods

Key Responsibilities

Ikigai Members and Guests Service

  • Welcome all Ikigai members/guests to the space and serve them, including:
    • Selling all Roasted Truth menu products, and accepting and preparing orders, paying attention to details such as preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios
    • Packaging food and beverages for sale and serving the members/guests, ensuring the product is presented in the most appealing form
    • Upselling Roasted Truth menu products while educating members/guests on the coffee that Roasted Truth serves, and encouraging them to try new filter coffee brewing methods such as V60 and AeroPress
    • Receiving and processing payments from members/guests
    • Informing members/guests of specials or new items, and answering any of their questions
  • Offer the necessary barista support during Ikigai events and conferences as and when required and handle orders placed by the members/guests at such events and conferences
  • Communicate member/guest feedback to managers and recommend new menu items (to the in-line manager)

Inventory and Procurement Management

  • Implement all the inventory and procurement management processes relating to Roasted Truth inventory, including:
    • Ensuring all customer orders are keyed into the Revel POS system correctly as orders are received
    • Receiving inventory from suppliers following the guidelines outlined and afterwards updating stock on Revel accordingly and sharing the delivery notes/invoices with the Operations Associate and Finance Team
    • Effectively managing inventory by monitoring stock expiration dates and following the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) principle to avoid wastage
    • Conducting stock takes twice a month (mid-month and end-month) for both Revel and non-Revel items and provide comments on variances to the Finance Team within 24 hours after the conclusion of the stock take
    • Ensuring proper handover is carried out when another location Barista steps in temporarily, including matching stock at hand with stock on Revel

Roasted Truth Café Management

  • Ensure Roasted Truth adheres to all food and safety regulations and controls
  • Clean and restock dining areas, empty the trash, and sanitize equipment and utensils, ensuring the café area is always clean and tidy and the front-facing aesthetics are maintained
  • Update Roasted Truth signage and displays regularly to attract customers
  • Regularly check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs to the Operations Associate
  • Take great care of the location’s café assets to ensure minimal breakages as much as possible
  • Work closely with the location food partner(s), including:
    • Placing orders for baked goods with them and receiving the product with the requisite documentation in place
    • Collaborating to maintain the cleanliness and aesthetic of the café

Education

  • Diploma in hospitality management or a related field preferred but not a required

Experience and Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience working in the hospitality/food and beverage preparation industry
  • Experience in the coffee brewing industry, including hands-on experience with brewing equipment strongly preferred
  • Experience in customer relationship management and dedication to providing great service
  • Exceptional listening and verbal communication skills
  • Well organized, presentable, and able to work under pressure
  • Willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation, emerging coffee trends and the coffee industry in general
  • Holds a valid food handlers’ certificate
