Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for recruitment, candidates should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Hold at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean Grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two teaching subjects in KCSE or its equivalent
  • Must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission

Application Guidelines and General Information:

  • Manual applications will not be considered.
  • The Commission’s Recruitment Guidelines for Teacher Interns for the 2023/2024 Financial Year will apply.
  • Shortlisted candidates must present original academic and professional certificates during the selection process.
  • Selection of candidates will be based on merit and the number of vacancies per County.
  • Previous permanent and pensionable employees of TSC and those who have served under TSC internship programs are not eligible.
  • An applicant can apply to two schools where vacancies have been declared.
  • Taking multiple internship offers will lead to disqualification.
  • For the duration of the internship, successful candidates must maintain personal accident insurance.
  • The internship program is designed to equip and sustain the competencies of individuals entering the teaching service through mentorship and practical experience.

Required Documents for Verification and Interviews:

During verification and interviews, applicants must produce:

  • Teacher Registration Certificate (print-out) from the TSC online portal
  • National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card (if applicable)
  • National Identity Card (ID) or Passport
  • Two (2) color passport-size photographs
  • National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card
  • Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN)

Duration and Stipend:

  • The internship period will be for twelve (12) months.
  • Monthly stipend for teacher interns attached to secondary schools is Kshs. 20,000/-, subject to statutory deductions.

Internship Certificate:

  • Successful completion of the internship program will earn the interns a certificate.
