Role overview:
- To provide accounting support to ensure accuracy of all finance transactions related to the project and to manage all financial aspects of projects from budget preparation to project closure.
Responsibilities:
- Track and record all project transactions in a timely manner
- Conduct reconciliation of project accounts monthly
- Compete monthly, quarterly and annual report in a timely manner
- Prepare budget and cash flow forecasts
- Prepare and review monthly transactions in a timely fashion.
- Prepare and review monthly reserves statement for each project, and review for exceptions
- Ensure all transactions are supported by adequate documentation, approval and that documentation is filed and retained in a suitable way
- Ensure internal year-end deadlines are met, and transactions are accrued in a timely fashion at this stage if required. Ensure that all accruals are reviewed periodically and settled especially before project closure.
- Produce monthly reporting to the finance lead, ensuring accuracy
- Produce financial analysis as required by the project team to assist decision-making.
- Manage day to day to finances, including processing invoices, expenditures etc. in collaboration with project teams.
- With support from Head of finance, support the audit team in conducting audit.
- Provide any needed support to achieving the organizational mission.
Person Specifications
Education, Language & Qualifications
- Qualified accountant CPA or currently pursuing CPA
- Excellent oral and written communication in English
Essential Knowledge, skills and Experience
- Substantial (minimum 1year) experience in a relevant role
Demonstrable and significant experience of the following;
- Creating and implanting good financial practice and controls, including transaction reviews and adjustments
- Balance sheet reconciliations and monthly checks and balances
- Working on multiple projects
- Working knowledge of Quick books accounting software and Microsoft office especially Excel and Word
- A strong commitment to FoLT’s values
- Ability to build good working relationships with non-finance staff
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Takes initiative, charge and proactively seeks new ideas, experiments with new processes/practices that capitalizes on opportunities
