Program description: This project is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute, Strathmore Centre for Research In Therapeutic Sciences, Ministry of Health and West Pokot County. Through this collaboration we plan to conduct a community survey within West Pokot County.
POSITION: Community Interviewers (50 Positions).
LOCATION: Residents within Kipkomo, West Pokot, North Pokot, Central Pokot and Pokot South sub-counties.
REPORTING: Reports to the Field Co-coordinator.
Essential Requirements
- At least a degree in Community Health, Social Sciences, Statistics, Nutrition, IT or related
- Must be a resident of the study
- Good in English, Swahili and any local language in West Pokot County, both spoken and
- Must have thorough knowledge of the study
Job DescriptionÂ
The community interviewers will report directly to Field Coordinator and will be responsible for collecting timely and accurate data in his or her assigned households.
Skills, knowledge, experience, and Abilities.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with members of the community and research
- Able to work with minimal supervision and be a team player.
- Able to work with mobile devices for data collection. Must be computer literate
- Should have at least 1-year field work experience of regular data
- Able to devote additional time for the study including working during weekends, over national and public holidays.
- Must have experience in collecting either quantitative or qualitative data
Specific tasks and responsibilities
The community interviewers’ responsibilities shall include and not limited to the following:
- Consent and recruit eligible Head of households and household members to participate in the
- Conduct face to face interviews with Head of Households and household members within the study
- Collect timely and accurate data from the household using mobile devices.
- Communicate with field coordinator and team leaders on field issues.
- Able to abide by study protocols as outlined by standard operating
