Safety Officer
Position Overview
Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety of people, equipment, and the environment within the site. The primary role is to prevent accidents, injuries, and health hazards by implementing safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
Role profile
• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and environmental concerns. Provide recommendations and corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• Organise and provide safety training programs for employees, including new workers. The areas such as emergency response, proper equipment handling, and safe work practices etc shall be covered.
• When accidents, injuries, or near-miss incidents occur, Safety Officers are responsible for conducting thorough investigations to determine the root causes and contributing factors. Develop strategies to prevent similar incidents in the future.
• Ensure that the organisation complies with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios, including fires, chemical spills, natural disasters, and medical emergencies.
• Implement hazard communication programs, including the labelling of hazardous materials, safety data sheets (SDS), and employee training on chemical safety.
• Ensure the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear. This includes selecting, inspecting, and maintaining safety equipment.
• Maintain records of safety-related incidents, training, inspections, and safety equipment checks. These records are essential for tracking performance and ensuring compliance.
• Identify potential risks and develop risk management strategies to reduce or eliminate these risks. This may involve collaborating with other departments to make necessary changes.
Role Specification
Qualifications
· A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is often preferred. Common degrees include Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related discipline.

• Well experience and ability to make quick decisions.
• Board knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Strong communication skills
Experience
• 10 years of proven experience in the construction sector
