A brief note: fp21 receives many applications. The applications that stand out to us are earnest, enthusiastic accounts of applicants’ stories and goals. We want to hear why you’re interested in fp21, what you hope to learn, and how this internship might advance your professional objectives. Leave your extensive prior experience for the resume to convey (it matters, but not as much as you think). We’re excited to hear from you!

———————————–

OUR MISSION: fp21 is a new independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) think tank and policy accelerator dedicated to transforming the processes and institutions of U.S. foreign policy. Unlike other think tanks that focus on current events, fp21 focuses its work upstream on improving how policy is made. The cornerstone of fp21’s work is evidence-based foreign policy, and the team is an exciting mix of current and former public servants, academics, and tech professionals.

OUR CULTURE: fp21 strives to build a working environment that empowers each team member to make meaningful contributions to foreign policy while maintaining a healthy balance in personal and work life. Our organization operates fully remote, and we encourage highly flexible work schedules and offer unlimited leave. Instead of relying on endless emails and Slack messages, we adopt cutting-edge knowledge-sharing and decision-making processes to minimize friction so you can concentrate on doing what you do best. We know that diverse teams are more productive and creative, and we work to build an inclusive and equitable environment that empowers each individual. fp21 is a learning organization, grounding our decisions about our internal culture in the best-available research while continually adapting to meet the needs of our team and achieve our mission.

EQUITY AND INCLUSION: fp21 is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants of any race, creed, color, religion, ethnicity, national origin, income class, political affiliation,

sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, veteran status or marital status, as well as applicants who have been previously incarcerated. We strongly encourage those from historically under-served, underrepresented, or marginalized communities to apply. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
