Roles and responsibilities
Achieving Zamara’s ambitious strategic priorities will be complex and challenging. Its continued success will be dependent on building and retaining a world-class team. The Accountant will provide support to the Finance team in Credit Control.
The role will report to the Finance Manager.
In more detail, the areas of responsibility include:
- Participate in implementation of the company’s credit control policy.
- Requesting for monthly/quarterly statements from insurers, reconcile and resolve queries on outstanding accounts.
- Assist Credit control accountant in preparation of the monthly debtors’ report and weekly updates within the laid down timelines.
- Drive collection of commissions due from insurers on monthly basis.
- Assist with client reconciliations with the respective account handlers/Insurers and or clients where need be.
- Track partially paid direct payments on monthly basis and share report with Ops team to confirm.
- Track problematic debt and assist in reconciling these debts with Insurers.
- Establish a smooth working relationship with underwriters by meeting them either virtually or physical visits.
- Ensure all premiums paid to the company and direct payments paid to Insurers by our clients are posted accurately and well supported to assist in timely collections of commissions.
- Assist in gathering information for the uncollected debts for subsequent forwarding to debt collection agencies.
- Tracing and pursuing long outstanding debtors and where possible, assess capacity to settle debts.
- Assist in preparation of relevant documents required for IRA licensing renewal.
- Assist credit control accountant in tracking and receipting of the unallocated cash.
- Assist in preparation of audit documentation for both internal and external audits.
- Take up any other responsibilities assigned by Accountant/ Finance manager.
Experience and personal qualities
- Bachelor of Commerce Finance/ Accounting or equivalent
- CPA-K/ ACCA Final
- Minimum 4 years’ experience
- MS Office with focus on Excel Skills
