ACCOUNTANT

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring that financial information is presented in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards. The job holder will also be expected to provide effective and efficient co-ordination of Member Management issues through the development and implementation of sound internal control procedures in accordance with regulations, standards and Sacco policies and procedures.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Ensures budgetary control through maintaining and managing the vote book of the
  2. Facilitates timely payments to suppliers, staff and the
  3. Posts transactions in the general ledger, cash book and other subsidiary
  4. Prepares bank/accounts reconciliations and follow up on the outstanding
  5. Tracks the utilization of capital and operational expenditure against the approved budget and report on the
  6. Monitors monthly revenues and expenses and where applicable ensure that they are accrued or posted in the correct accounting period.
  7. Prepares draft financial reports and statements in conformance with the applicable International Financial Reporting Standard and Generally Acceptable Accounting
  8. Confirms the accuracy and completeness of accounts receivable and reporting on the same as appropriate.
  9. Prepares and remits various taxes to Kenya Revenue Authority and prepare the annual tax deductions returns and furnish staff and Management as appropriate.
  10. Maintains and regularly updates the fixed asset and investment

Academic Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business related
  2. A professional accounting qualification Certified Public Accountants (K), Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, Association of Chartered Accountant, and a member in good standing of Institute of Certified Public Accountants Kenya.

Experience

 A minimum of Six (6) years’ experience in Finance and/or Accounting
