JOB PURPOSE:
The Kenya Medical Research Institute Research Programme (KWTRP) is part of the Lancet Haematology Commission on Anaemia, a diverse group of experts working to address key challenges and research opportunities needed to activate progress in reductions in the burden of anaemia globally. We seek to recruit a research officer to join the Epidemiology and Demographics Department to support with this important work. The successful candidate will support the PI and other Commission members in the activities of the Lancet Haematology Commission on Anaemia. The role will include data analyses, performing systematic reviews, coordinating meetings, and drafting and revising manuscripts.

Job Dimensions: Key Responsibilities
- Working together with Commission members and stakeholders to prepare and revise drafts for research manuscripts, reviews, and reports.
- Conducting literature reviews and synthesizing relevant information on anaemia.
- Performing data analyses and interpretation.
- Supporting the coordination of meetings among Commission members and stakeholders.
- Participating in writing meetings, contributing ideas, and providing valuable insights to shape the commission’s outcomes.
- Ensuring the accuracy, clarity, and compliance with scientific writing standards in all documents.
- Contributing to the dissemination of findings through presentations at conferences and workshops.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Job Specifications:
- A Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public health or a related field.
- Experience in research on topics related to anaemia.
- Experience in data analysis.
- Proven experience in scientific writing, demonstrated through publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in working in international collaborations
- Experience in coordination/ management of complex studies or projects.
Desirable:
- Successful development of grant or fellowship proposal
- Evidence of scientific publication
- Experience in global health research.
- Experience in project management.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
