The KEMRI/USA Medical Research Directorate-Kenya is a research organization affiliated with the Kenya Medical Research Institute. Our mission is to develop and test improved means for predicting, detecting, preventing and treating infectious diseases. We are looking for a motivated individual to fill the following position at the Kericho Field Station:
Title: Community Health Worker (1 post) Grade: KMR 8
Reporting to: Principal Investigator
Position Summary:
The position serves as the POC for all community-related activities and carries out community mobilization for current and upcoming research studies.
a) Job Specification:
The duties and responsibilities at this level will include the following:
- Plan and execute community education and engagement that aim to create a research- literate
- Assist with organizing stakeholder engagement meetings to sensitize, update and give feedback on the research studies to the site’s
- Survey and assessment of potential mobilization/recruitment
- Mobilization of the target population to participate in Research
- Ensure that the right study population is reached in the community and assess the participant for enrollment as per the protocol requirements
- Maintain and update participants’ contact information to ensure
- Distribution of Information, Education and Communication (IEC)
- Compile and present reports required for different research
- Promote other prevention
- Maintain confidentiality of
- Provide any necessary Psychosocial
- Reinforce adherence to study
b) Person Specification Required
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
- At least four (4) years of relevant work experience;
- Diploma in the following fields; Community Health and Development, Nutrition, Social work or relevant qualification from a recognized Institution;
- Proficiency in computer application;
- Demonstrated work performance and results; and
- Fulfil the requirement of Chapter Six of the

Terms of Employment:
One (1) year renewable contract.
Probation period for the first three (3) months Remuneration: Salary is based on the KEMRI salary scale.
