ACRE Africa, the brand name of Agriculture and Climate Risk Enterprise Ltd. (ACRE), is a service provider that links farmers to insurance products in Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda. ACRE Africa works with local insurers and stakeholders in the agricultural insurance value chain to facilitate access to tailored micro-insurance products for smallholders. The products designed by ACRE Africa are aimed at insuring farmers from weather-related risks and livestock diseases, allowing them to confidently invest in their farms, increase productivity and access agricultural loans.
Role Description
This is an on-site internship role for an Actuarial Intern. The Actuarial Intern will support the ACRE Africa team in risk assessment, product development, and risk monitoring. The role provides an excellent opportunity for an Actuarial Intern to gain practical experience in the field of agriculture insurance.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Experience or knowledge in actuarial consulting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of insurance and finance principles
- * Working knowledge of R and or Python programming, Microsoft Excel, and statistical software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- A motivated self-starter with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- *Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related fields
- Professional certification (or progress towards certification) in actuarial sciences will be an added advantage
- Prior experience in agriculture insurance will be an added advantage
