CPSBM/01/01/09/2023: Assistant ECDE Teacher III -Job Group F (85 Posts)
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable

This is the entry grade for teachers with a Certificate in ECDE. A teacher at this level will work under the guidance of a more senior teacher for the purposes of professional mentoring and growth.

Duties and Responsibilities.

  1. Class teaching.
  2. Role modeling, guidance and counseling, mentoring, and motivation of the learners.
  3. Preparing report
  4. Ensuring the safety and security of the learners
  5. Assist in organizing and facilitating play/learning activities for the learners.
  6. Caring for and nurturing the spiritual, moral, social, mental, physical, aesthetic, and emotional growth of the learners (holistic development).
  7. Managing ECDE classes and keeping professional and administrative records (schemes of work, lesson plans, daily program of activities, attendance registers, etc.) and ensuring learners’ safety and security.
  8. Preparing and developing play/learning materials.

Requirements for Appointment

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum grade D+ (Plus) or KCE division IV at ‘O’ Level
  2. Certificate in Early Childhood Development Education offered by KNEC/Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent.
  3. Registered by the Teachers Service Commission
  4. A Certificate in Computer Applications

  • Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade into this cadre. An officer at this level. Will work under guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:

  1. Taking history, examining, diagnosing and treating patients’ common ailments at an outpatient or inpatient health facility;
  2. Implementing Community Health Care activities in liaison with other health workers;
  3. Guiding and counseling. patients, clients and staff on health issues;
  4. Sensitizing patients and clients on preventive and promotive health;
  5. Carrying out minor surgical procedures as per training and skill;
  6. Collecting and compiling clinical data; and
  7. Referring patients and clients to appropriate health facilities.

(b)    Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

  1. Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or Clinical Medicine and Community Health from a recognized institution;
  2. Certificate of Registration from the Clinical Officers’ Council and valid practicing license
  3. Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.

  • Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more senior and experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  1. Storing and retrieving medical records and documents;
  2. Preparing clinics;
  3. Updating bed bureau;
  4. Editing Patient case records;
  5. Capturing data from service points;
  6. Maintaining record safety and confidentiality;
  7. Balancing daily bed returns;
  8. Maintaining patient Master Index;
  9. Scheduling of patients to the consultants and specialty clinics;
  10. Assigning codes to diseases and surgical procedures;
  11. Indexing diseases and surgical procedures according to the International Classification of Diseases and Procedures in Medicine;
  12. Compiling medical reports; sharing of health information with other stakeholders;
  13. Analyzing data;
  14. Compiling biodata and preparing medical records and reports.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Health Records and Information Management from a recognized institution; and
  2. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

This is the entry and training grade for Diploma holders. An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of a senior and experienced officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: –

  1. Decontaminating working benches
  2. Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens:
  3. Preparing clients for collection of specimens
  4. Receiving, Collecting, labelling and registering of specimens
  5. Disaggregating specimens for processing and analyses
  6. Preparing reagents
  7. Examining specimens
  8. Writing and recording of results
  9. Dispatching the results for use in clinical management
  10. Preparing stains
  11. Performing blood grouping
  12. Issuing blood and blood products to peripheral health facilities and
  13. Storing blood products according to their requirements.

  1. Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board;

  3. Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board: and

  • Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade into this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  1. Assessing patients and clients and establishing health care needs;
  2. Planning and implementing nursing care interventions based on patients’/clients’ health needs;
  3. Providing appropriate healthcare service, including immunization, ante-natal care, delivery, referring patients and clients appropriately;
  4. Evaluating healthcare outcomes on patients/clients preparing individualized reports;
  5. Making appropriate discharge plan for patients;
  6. Conducting assessment of school health needs;
  7. Planning, implementing interventions and preparing periodic reports;
  8. Maintaining records on patients/clients personal and health condition/care;’
  9. Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment;
  10. Ensuring safe custody for in-patients’ belongings;
  11. Conducting home visits, following up discharged patients/clients and providing continuity of care; and
  12. Treating minor ailments.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  1. Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Enrolled Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Community Health Nurse, Kenya Enrolled Midwife, Kenya Enrolled Psychiatric Nurse or Enrolled Nurse/Midwife from a recognized training institution;
  2. Enrolment Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
  3. Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya; and

  1. Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patient’s outcomes;
  2. Providing appropriate healthcare service including Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI), immunization, PMTCT, ante-natal care and delivery,
  3. Providing health education and counselling to patients/clients and community on identified health needs;
  4. Referring patients and clients appropriately;
  5. Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans; maintaining records on patients’/clients health condition and care;

  • Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade for Radiographers cadre. An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of an experienced officer. Specific duties will include:

  1. Providing radiographic services to the patients;
  2. Processing, verifying and maintaining information relating to patients;
  3. Ordering and maintaining records of radiographic and photographic supplies.
  • Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C (plain) with grade C (plain) in English/Kiswahili, Biology/Biological Sciences or Physics/Physical Sciences and C- in Mathematics; and
  2. Diploma in any of the following:
  3. Diagnostic Radiography/Medical Imaging Sciences,
  4. Ultrasound,
  5. Computerized Tomography,
  6. Magnetic Resonance Imaging,
  7. Mammography,

 (a)      Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will be based in the County/Sub County workshops and will be attached to a motor vehicle or plant repair section. The officer will be supervised by a senior officer in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and plant; the officer will: –

  1. inspect and test vehicles and equipment before and after repairs;
  2. The officer will conduct proficiency tests for drivers.

(b)    Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • A Diploma (Automotive) or other approved equivalent qualification; and
  • A valid Driving License.
  • Five years’ work experience

 (a) Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the supervision of a senior officer.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: –

  1. Undertaking preventive maintenance and repairs of medical/hospital equipment, plants, instruments and furniture;
  2. Requisitioning for spare parts and consumables;
  3. Taking inventory of medical hospital equipment, furniture and plants;
  4. Collecting information for research. collecting information on medical engineering services for input into the Integrated Health Information Management System;
  5. Carrying out minor repairs of health facilities and utilities; and
  6. Implementing medical engineering programmes and projects.

(b)    Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  1. Diploma in Medical Engineering or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
  2. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
