Accountant Job Profile
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Reconciliation of receipts, invoices, or other financial support documentation.
• Record and manage financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivables.
• Review and validate supporting documentation before processing financial transactions to ensure all required documents are accurate and complete and authorizations are in place.
• Flag all inconsistencies for further investigation.
• Support the preparation and filing of tax returns and other compliance-related documents.
• Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Create and update expense reports.
• Perform reconciliation for assigned accounts.
• Support in the departmental budget preparation and review.
• Management of office petty cash account – budget submission, disbursement, and reconciliation.
• Support during internal and external audit
• Archiving of financial documentation both digital and hard copies
• Assist in payroll processing and submission of statutory returns. • Coordinate and manage payment and billing details of external service providers, contractors, and vendors.
Skills, Experience & Personal qualities
• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
• At least 3 Years of financial accounting experience.
• Experience working in a start-up environment.
• CPA Qualification will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations and compliance is desirable.
• Integrity and ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism.
• High proficiency in MS Excel and Google Sheets
• Proficient in Intuit QuickBooks Online and Desktop for Non-Profits
• Conversant with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Excellent communication skills in both Kiswahili and English.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent organizational skills, flexibility, and an ability to prioritize.
• A self-starter with initiative and the ability to command attention and respect.
• A team player who can work well with colleagues from different backgrounds, different time availabilities and experiences.
