Job DescriptionLife GuardReporting to the Spa Manager, the Life Guard’s main function is to ensure the Hotel has an accident free pool, where guest will always feel safe and comfortable, whiles making sure that they adhere to basic pool rules and regulations.Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safety of guests and employees that are inside the designated swimming areas (beach/pool) during the posted business hours.
- Must be a certified Lifeguard of any of the world Life Guard Associations and of active status.
- Responsible for keeping the designated and marked swimming areas free of any engine is driven a boat or alike, windsurfers or sea bikes (pedals).
- Responsible for keeping swimmers/snorkelers out of boat tracks or any other hazardous area.
- Responsible for responding to any emergency within the hotel swimming area/pool area.
- Responsible for the safety set-up at the beach/pool.
- Responsible that there is a rescue boat with engine available at all times.
- Responsible for the logging in and logging out of the windsurfers, sailing boats and number of crew and sea bikes and number of crew. Ensures that these activities are executed in the designated areas.
- Monitors / observes and controls the windsurfers, sailors, and sea bikes while out on the sea. Supervise and organizes the rescue of windsurfers, sailing boat or sea bikes if needed.
- Responsible for ensuring that all Water Sports activities or Pool Activities are executed according to the Security Rules.
- Responsible for a temporary replacement while going to the bathroom and for lunch or breaks etc.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve overall objectives of this position.
- Understand and strictly adhere to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel’s policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health & Safety.
- Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported and rectified immediately.
- Perform any other duties as assigned to them by management.
- Additional responsibilities and tasks can be added at any time according to the needs of the business and of the hotel.
Desired skills and qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in any related field.
- Possess current Lifeguard Training and/or Community First Aid Training Instructor certification.
- Professional Rescuer Cardiopulmonary (CPR).
- Must have worked in a similar position for three (3) years.
- Knowledge of lifesaving methods and procedures, including first aid and standard resuscitation measures.
- Knowledge of lifesaving methods and procedures, including first aid and standard resuscitation measures.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations governing conduct of the guest at pools.
- Knowledge of swimming pool sanitation and chlorination systems.
- Skilled in the application of lifesaving techniques.
- Skilled in swimming.
- Knowledge of pool equipment and maintenance.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
