Accounts Assistant
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our dynamic team at our fast-growing retail ecommerce grocery platform. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely transactions processing, and providing support in various accounting functions. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The Accounts Assistant will report directly to the Director of Finance.
Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Process and review incoming invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding.
Prepare and process vendor payments in a timely manner.
Monitor accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding invoices, and facilitate timely collections.
- Financial Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software.
Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions regularly.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports as needed.
- Expense Tracking:
Record and categorize company expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Assist in monitoring and managing expense reimbursements for employees.
- Inventory Management:
Collaborate with the operations team to ensure accurate recording of inventory-related transactions.
Reconcile inventory records with physical counts and address discrepancies.
- Data Entry and Analysis:
Enter financial data into the system accurately and efficiently.
Assist in analyzing financial data to identify trends and discrepancies.
- Month-end Closing:
Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary reports and reconciliations.
Support month end statutory payroll reports
Support VAT filing and returns
- Ad-Hoc Tasks:
Provide support in various accounting projects and tasks as directed by the Director of Finance.
Assist in implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the ecommerce or retail sector.
- Proficiency in using accounting software Quickbooks, Zoho, etc and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory.
