Overall Purpose of the Job
Electrical installation and maintenance works.
Specific Duties
- Â Carry out electrical installation works.
- Â Carry out electrical repairs and maintenance of Electrical distribution panels and boards.
- Â Undertake installation and repair of electrical wirings, lighting systems, fittings, and accessories.
- Â Carry out machine repairs and maintenance of electrical appliances.
- Â Carry out maintenance of solar PV plant equipment.
- Â Repair of refrigerators, cold rooms, and air conditioners.
- Â Inspecting transformers, generators, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
- Â Troubleshooting electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
- Â Maintain record of all campus meters, meter reading for recharges, power fluctuations and water pump operations.
- Â Carry out any other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Â Monthly energy and diesel usage analysis for generators.
- Â Supervision of students on attachment.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Â Diploma in electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution.
-  At least 10 years’ experience in electrical systems and appliances and equipment with at least 3 years on Commercial Solar PV systems and Solar thermal systems.
- Â Knowledge in electrical installation works.
- Â Ability to co-ordinate and work amicably with team members.
- Â Sound working knowledge of low voltage distribution system, power generation, blueprints, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
- Â Working knowledge of installation, repair, and maintenance of solar PV plants (grid tie and hybrid systems), Solar water heating systems (designing and installation).
- Â Knowledge in refrigeration and air conditioning.
- Â Knowledge of Auto CAD is an added advantage.
- Â Ability to respond swiftly to emergencies.
- Â Firefighting and first aid.
- Â Computer literacy.
Other Desirable Attributes
- Â Critical thinking is necessary for trouble shooting and problem solving.
- Â Supervises students on attachment.
- Â Expected to handle minimal resources such as imprest.

- This position reports to the Electrical Engineer/Facilities & Assets Manager
