Duties and Responsibilities

  • General Ledger and Financial Reporting:

Record day-to-day financial transactions accurately in the general ledger.

Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Reconcile accounts, investigate discrepancies, and make necessary adjustments.

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:

Process invoices and ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers.

Monitor and manage accounts receivable, follow up on outstanding payments, and maintain healthy cash flow.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in the preparation of monthly budgets and forecasts, working closely with relevant departments.

Track actual financial performance against budgeted figures and provide variance analysis.

  • Tax Compliance:

Ensure accurate and timely filing of all applicable tax returns. Stay up-to-date with relevant tax laws and regulations and make recommendations for tax-saving opportunities.

  • Financial Analysis:

Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

Provide insightful financial reports and presentations to management to support strategic decision-making.

  • Internal Controls:Help develop and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.

Assist in annual financial audits and coordinate audit-related activities.

  • Payroll Processing:

Prepare and process employee payroll, including accurate calculation of wages, benefits, and deductions.

Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations related to payroll.

  • Accounting Software and Technology:

Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) proficiently to streamline processes and maintain accurate records.

Recommend and implement improvements to accounting systems and processes

Key Requirements Skills, experience and qualification

  • Undergraduate degree in Business/Commerce or related field or Accounting Diploma.
  • Professional accounting qualifications, Part Two of CPA(K).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong excel/data analysis and manipulation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong ethics, with an ability to manage confidential data.
