Job Brief
On behalf of our client in the manufacturing industry, we are seeking an Environment health and safety officer who will be responsible for ensuring that their workplace is safe and healthy. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing safety programs and policies, training personnel on new protocols, and ensuring that the organization is compliant with all health and safety regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Developing policies and procedures to reduce safety risks in the workplace
- Conducting inspections of facilities to identify potential hazards and recommending solutions to prevent injuries or illness in the workplace
- Training employees on safety procedures and equipment to ensure that they understand how to work safely
- Inspecting facilities to identify potential fire hazards or other dangers
- Investigating accidents in order to determine causes and contributing factors
- Maintaining records of accidents, complaints, maintenance activities, inspections, and other activities related to environmental health and safety
- Developing or updating safety training materials for employees
- Reviewing safety equipment to ensure that it is in good working order and ready for use
- Inspecting equipment to ensure that it is safe to use, working properly, and installed correctly
Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, safety management, or related field.
- OSH or similar EHS certification.
- A minimum of three years experience as an EHS Officer or similar role.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSH.
- Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong leadership and training abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
