Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Planning, monitoring and evaluating implementation of analytical and forensic services, providing drugs, chemical substance, crime scene specimens and other materials;
- Coordinating and managing research projects;
- Preparing scientific reports;
- Presenting reports of analysis and providing experts evidence in court;
- Liaising with other laboratories and bodies for information exchange to improve standards of performance;
- Undertaking personnel workload management and tracking duties to ensure productive utilization of time materials; and
- Mentoring and coaching staff in the directorate.
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –
- Served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Principal Chemist, CSG 8 or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service;
- A Bachelors of Science degree in any of the following disciplines: Chemistry, Forensic Science, Biochemistry or equivalent qualifications from a university recognized in Kenya; and
- Shown ability and demonstrated merit as reflected in work performance and results.
