Main Duties
- Evaluating Physicians/Surgeons’ referrals and patients’ medical records to determine occupational therapy needs
- Conferring with physicians, surgeons, psychologists, nurses and social workers regarding patient cases
- Developing individual treatment plans and administrating relevant therapy regimes
- Conducting regular evaluations of patients to assess progress and response to therapy and revise the treatment program as necessary
- Participating in treatment team meetings to provide information regarding patient assessment and treatment program
- Maintaining daily treatment evaluation notes of patient’s progress and discharge planning notes and summaries
- Providing training to other disciplines inside the institution on occupation therapy and special techniques or equipment used in patient care
- Training patients in the use of splints made and care of the same to avoid injuries like blisters
- Training patients to use prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommending modifications
- Adapting or modifying prefabricated equipment to meet individual needs, and monitor use of adaptive equipment
- Preparing written treatment plans and maintaining a record of patients treated
- Developing of home occupational therapy plan for discharged patients
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required
Required Qualifications for the Position
- Degree in a related field with 2 years of work experience
- Higher Diploma in a related field with 4 years work experience
- Diploma in Occupation Therapy with 5 years work experience
- Registered by the Kenya Occupational Therapy Association (KOTA)
- Good customer services skills
- Problem-solving skills
