Position Summary:
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Account Assistant to join our finance department. The Account Assistant will work closely with the finance team to assist in various accounting tasks, contributing to timely and precise financial records and reports. Knowledge of taxation is a must for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Review and process invoices, ensuring accurate coding and proper approvals.
- Prepare and process payments to vendors and suppliers within specified timelines.
Accounts Receivable:
- Assist in creating and issuing invoices to clients and customers.
- Monitor and track outstanding receivables, following up on overdue accounts.
Data Entry and Record Keeping:
- Accurately input financial transactions into accounting software or spreadsheets.
- Maintain well-organized and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
Bank Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure precise recording of transactions.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between company records and bank statements.
Expense Tracking:
- Assist in tracking and categorising company expenses for reporting and analysis.
- Verify expense reports submitted by employees for accuracy and compliance.
Taxation Knowledge:
- Ensure compliance with taxation regulations and prepare accurate tax-related documentation.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tax returns.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare routine financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements.
- Assist in compiling data for month-end and year-end closing processes.
Assist with Audits:
- Provide necessary documentation and support during internal and external audits.
- Assist in preparing audit schedules and addressing auditor inquiries.
General Administrative Support:
- Assist with administrative tasks, including filing, document management, and correspondence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial information.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, CPA K.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in data entry and record keeping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
- Solid understanding of taxation regulations and procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills to work with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
